Piper Read Aloud turns Firefox into a reading companion: select any text on any page and hear it spoken by a natural-sounding AI voice that runs entirely on your device — powered by Piper via ONNX/WASM.

Features
- Floating "Read" button on any selection (can be hidden in settings), right-click Read selection aloud / Stop reading aloud, and an Alt+Shift+R shortcut
- 100+ voices in 30+ languages at x_low / low / medium / high quality, browsable in a built-in model manager with search, language / quality / download-status filters, and live download progress
- Voice models are downloaded once and cached locally — after that everything works offline
- Per-voice speed and volume (up to 300 %), or one shared setting for all voices
- Multiple CPU cores for long passages; workers are released automatically when idle
- Stop control in the right-click menu and the toolbar popup

Privacy: no data ever leaves your computer. The only network use is downloading the voice models you explicitly choose, from huggingface.co. No analytics, no tracking.
