BowerBird Privacy Policy

WHAT WE COLLECT
Nothing. BowerBird has no account, no login, no analytics and no telemetry. We do not collect,
transmit, store or sell any personal data, browsing history or page content.

WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES
Everything stays on your device. Your hide-rules, per-site settings, granted sites and filter-list
choices are stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB and extension storage). None of it is
transmitted anywhere.

WHAT BOWERBIRD CAN SEE
BowerBird requests no host permissions at install, so it cannot read the sites you visit. Ad and
tracker blocking works through the browser's own declarativeNetRequest system, which does not give
the extension access to page content.

Access to a site is granted only when you choose to hide something on that site. It is requested
one origin at a time, from an explicit click, and you can revoke it at any time in Settings.

THE ONLY NETWORK REQUEST
BowerBird makes exactly one kind of network request: licence validation. When you activate a Pro
licence, your licence key is sent to our validation server
(bowerbird-license.hakeemify.workers.dev) and nothing else. No email address, no device
identifier, no usage data.

After activation the licence is verified on your device using an embedded public key, so Pro keeps
working with no connection.

Filter lists are packaged inside the extension and are never fetched at runtime.

ON-DEVICE AI
Where your browser provides a built-in on-device AI model, BowerBird uses it to label the clutter
it finds. Page content is passed to that local model and never leaves your device. Where no such
model is available, built-in rules label it instead. The Declutter code path makes no network
calls at all - this is enforced by an automated build check, not just policy.

PAYMENTS
Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. They process your payment and
issue your licence key under their own privacy policy. We never see your card details.

CHANGES
Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the extension's release notes.
